LANDFILL


Located approximately 2 kms west of the Melfort Street/Highway 41A intersection, the Melfort Regional Landfill is open to all residents of Melfort and the trading area. Users must accept the regulations and the directions of the landfill operator.  Please help us keep the landfill site as clean as possible by separating items as per location signs. 
 
NOTICE TO HAULERS:  Appliances containing refrigerants will not be accepted at the City of Melfort Landfill without a dealer's tag to confirm the absence of refrigerant and mercury.  Click here to obtain additional information.

Summer Hours of OperationApril 15 – October 14
Monday to Saturday 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Sunday & Stat Holidays Closed
   
Winter Hours of Operation: October 15 – April 14
Monday to Friday 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon; 1:00 – 4:30 p.m.
Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Sundays & Stat Holidays Closed

FEES - effective May 1, 2010

Applicable to all collection haulers of commercial and industrial waste as well as private residents.

 
Domestic Garbage, Dry Waste, Metals, Paper and Cardboard
Resident of Melfort
Minimum Charge of $6.00 for first 100 kg (220 lbs.)
Plus over 100 kg @ $20.00/1000 kg (2200 lbs.)
Non-Resident
Minimum Charge of $9.00 for first 100 kg (220 lbs.)
Plus over 100 kg @ $40.00/1000 kg (2200 lbs.)
 
Tires Minimum $5.00 plus $100.00/tonne
 
Animals
Large (Livestock) - $20.00/tonne plus $80.00
Small - $15.00/tonne plus $25.00
 
Contaminated Soil $20.00/1000 kg plus applicable Environment Inspection fees
 
Grain Cleanings $18.00/tonne

*All waste must meet environmental regulations before it will be accepted.
 
Did you know?
  • That the landfill has video surveillance of the vehicles passing over the scale to help us improve the screening of the loads and to minimize the time you spend on the scale.
  • That there is absolutely no scavaging at the landfill.
  • That you must stop at the scale house after you dump your load.
Used Oil Centre
At the landfill site, the City operates an EcoCentre that accepts used oil, oil filters and oil containers. For more information about this program, please contact the Saskatchewan Association for Resource Recovery Corporation (SARRC) at www.usedoilrecycling.com/en/sk .
