ANIMAL CONTROL

The purpose of animal control is to ensure the safety, health and welfare of our citizens and the protection of people and property in the City of Melfort. The City has passed several bylaws to regulate and control the ownership and possession of animals within the City, to ensure the humane treatment of animals and to prohibit the keeping of dangerous animals within the city. |

All dogs and cats within the City of Melfort require an annual license, which expires at the end of the calendar year. You may apply at City Hall for your license.
The annual license fee for each animal is $30.00. On application for the license where the owner provides a veterinarian’s certificate stating that the animal has been neutered or spayed, the license fee will be reduced to $10.00 per year.
