Welcome to the City of Northern Lights, Melfort. In Melfort we are very pleased to be one of the fastest growing cities in the exciting province of Saskatchewan. The future looks very bright as two mega-projects are scheduled to come on stream in the next few years.

 

Both the Pehonan Hydro Plant and the Shore Gold Diamond Mine have passed their pre-feasibility studies and are on the home stretch for final approval. It is estimated that these two projects alone will require up to a total of 3,000 labourers with over 700 permanent jobs resulting. Both projects are a mere 30 minutes from our community.

 

There are few communities in the world that can compete with the quality of life in Melfort. City facilities include an 1800-seat arena and water park facility, lighted ball complex, the new Kerry Vickar Centre with convention hall as well as performing arts theatre, art gallery and meeting rooms. There is also a beautiful 18-hole golf course, curling rink, gun range, multi-building pioneer museum and many other amenities.

 

The Stonegate Centre is a $40 million shopping complex that is now under construction and adds to the vibrant business community already in Melfort.
