2011 Census
May 2-9, 2011

Why is it so important to register in the census?
The Census means services and increased grant dollars for the taxpayers of Melfort. The answers you provide on the Census questionnaire are used to plan services such as schools, housing, health care, daycare, police services and fire protection. These services are important to every one of us.
For every person that did not register in the 2006 Census, the City of Melfort taxpayers lost $1,095.00 per person in provincial and federal funding. The next five years could be at a higher loss than in the past.
I personally urge each and every one of you to ensure that you and your family are counted. Talk to your neighbours and the residents on your block and encourage them to do the same. You can complete the census on-line starting May 2nd.
If you require additional information regarding this year's Census, taking place between May 2 - 9, stop in at City Hall or the 2011 Census website at http://www.census2011.gc.ca.
Thank you,
Mayor Kevin Phillips
